OUR STRATEGY

Solitaire du Figaro Paprec is a race that excites and inspires. So, it is our responsibility today to make it a race that unites around great sporting adventures but also unites around causes that matter.
This is why we are mobilizing to make this stage race an ocean protection awareness platform.
Our ambition is simple: by acting as a spokesperson and connecting all those who want to take action, we want to turn this race that we love so much into a communications platform to promote the preservation of marine biodiversity.
MAXIMISING OUR REACH
WINGS OF THE OCEAN
To support La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec in its transition, OC Sport Pen Duick – the event’s organizing company – has chosen to join forces with Wings of the Ocean.
Its teams will be raising visitors' awareness of the need to preserve and protect the Ocean.
PUBLIC AWARENESS
Many animations will be done on the stands made available by the NGO on every opening day of each village.
Among the many actions, visitors will also be able to participate in the climate fresco workshop which will be available, to understand the various issues related to the climate crisis.

MINIMIZE CARBON EMISSIONS
After conducting its first CARBON BALANCE in 2021, OC Sport Pen Duick is committed to transforming the organization of a great sailing race over the long term. Limit the environmental footprint of the event by making it less of a greenhouse gas generator, while allowing each visitor to enjoy the best possible experience.
In this perspective, OC Sport Pen Duick will realize a new CARBON FOOTPRINT of the event in order to identify the positions that emit the most greenhouse gases (GHG), define a reduction path in the medium and long term and to establish a action plan for the future. This CARBON BALANCE will measure the carbon impact of its visitors, partners and exhibitors on our environment (Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3: see visual below).
WHAT IS A CARBON FOOTPRINT?
CARBON FOOTPRINT is a method developed by the FEEMA (French Environment and Energy Management Agency) to measure the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of a company, event, product or individual. This exercise is essential for implementing actions to reduce CO2 emissions as efficiently as possible. These emissions are segmented into 3 scopes:
THE CARBON CONTRIBUTION OF PROJECTS WITH HIGH ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIETAL VALUES:
Beyond challenging all of our practices with a view to minimizing the carbon impact of La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, we are launching a 100% local carbon contribution plan with the company TerraTerre.
The idea is simple: support virtuous and regenerative agricultural initiatives – carried out near Caen - which help to sequester significant quantities of CO2 while supporting a sustainable employment dynamic. Regenerative agriculture has also many co-benefits, things such as improved water and soil quality, as well as preservation of the surrounding biodiversity.
THE CARBON CONTRIBUTION, WHAT IS IT?
The contribution to global carbon neutrality (also formerly called carbon offsetting) is a mechanism that allows you to have a positive impact on the environment, communities and carbon neutrality outside the framework of your activity, by participating in the development of initiatives promoting the minimization or sequestration of greenhouse gas emissions.
FOCUS TerraTerre by Agoterra
Since 2022, OC Sport Pen Duick – Organizer of La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec – has been committed to TerraTerre with the aim of minimizing its carbon footprint, and in particular by financing projects relating to regenerative agriculture.
Oc Sport Pen Duick supports 2 farmers in the transition of their farm, who have defined a project aimed at reducing their CO2 emissions by 450 tonnes over 5 years. In order to achieve this, they have implemented many actions: reducing the use of fertilizers and tillage as well as the establishment of intermediate covers.
These levers lead to a certain number of co-benefits: improvement of air, water and soil quality, preservation of biodiversity, financial support for farmers, etc.
